Bachata Sensual Jack & Jill
Category Amateur
Registration: $25 per person.
No professional Bachata dancers allowed. A professional is defined as someone who regularly gets remunerated or has been regularly remunerated before to teach or perform Bachata at a dance school or public events.
Preliminary Round
All contestants will be assigned a bib.
There will be 3 Heats on different Bachata Sensual songs for 2 or 3 minutes.
Before each heat, the leaders and followers will line up for a random partner assignment done by draw.
Random partner switches between the heats will contribute to minimize the skill gap which could penalize some dancers.
The Judges, Luis & Andrea, will select the best dancers, evaluating dancers individually.
Luis will be evaluating the Leaders and Andrea will evaluate the Followers.
A certain number of dancers will be selected to move on to the semi-finals based on the number of participants.
-
30+ registrations: 8 Leaders and 8 Followers selected for semi-finals.
-
16-29 registrations: 4 Leaders and 4 Followers selected for semi-finals.
-
8-15 registrations: 2 Leaders and 2 Followers selected.
Semi-Finals

The format of the finals will be “Sudden Death” elimination with brackets.
A last random partner assignment will be done before the semi-finals begin. The followers will remove their bib.
A practice heat of 1 minute will be held for the dancers to familiarize themselves with their randomly assigned partner.
2 pairs will dance at the same time on a song for 2 minutes in front of the judges.
The 2 main judges Luis & Andrea will be voting separately on the round’s winner. If their votes are split, the tiebreaker judges William & Irene will cast their vote on the winner. The losing pair will be eliminated.
The elimination brackets continue until 2 pairs of dancers remain.
A 1-minute round happens to determine 3rd place.

Finals

For the final elimination a 1-minute spotlight round will happen with the pairs dancing individually on a repeated song segment.
Immediately after, the last song will be played and the 2 pairs will dance at the same time for 2 minutes.
The final vote is cast by the judges for the champions.
Trophies and medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
